The Salomon Women’s campaign or #SalomonWMN is a global initiative to get more women outdoors and to celebrate those doing amazing things. Salomon is encouraging women to participate in redefining what it is to be a woman in the outdoor space.
From April 30, women are encouraged to post their own version of Salomon’s new advertising campaign on social media: an outdoor-minded photo that flies in the face of clichés about women. So to a women whose life is entrenched or inspired by the outdoors and sport, what does it mean to ‘make house’, ‘do the dishes’, ‘put dinner on the table’… is it perhaps rolling out two sleeping bags under the stars, washing a tin cup in a river or boiling up some pasta on a Jetboil on the top of a mountain to the light of a headtorch?
Women who partake in the competition not only help to redefine what it is to be a woman, but 10 finalists will win Salomon’s new OUT NIGHT 30+5 bag, a brand-new creation made to fit the duration of any adventure. Five of the finalists will stand a chance to win an all expenses ticket to the ultimate prize: A Women’s-Only Multi-sport Weekend, at The Glencairn Farm in Underberg in September.
The five lucky winners will have an opportunity to make new friends and try a variety of outdoor activities with a group of like-minded adventurous women. The plan for the weekend includes hiking, biking and other mountain and water sports. The attendees will also be able to interact with some of Salomon’s top female athletes and ambassadors from around the country, including Megan Mackenzie, Robyn Owen, Daniel Feldmann and Hayley Preen.
To be considered, participants must post their own photos to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, which challenge clichés about women. They must share their version of a ‘manicure’ or a ‘good hair day’ for example, that completely turns the normal upside down. Participants must tag @Salomon_sa and use #SalomonWMN to stand a chance to win. Salomon will choose 10 finalists. Those 10 entries will then be posted on the brand’s social media channels and be voted on by the brand’s community of followers and an official jury. Five women will win an all-expenses paid entry to the Salomon Women’s-only Multi-sport Weekend, at The Glencairn Farm in Underberg that will take place in September 2019.
In conjunction with the online campaign, Salomon will be hosting three FREE afternoon activations around the country. The afternoons will be open to ladies who are interested in getting outdoors and interacting with like-minded adventurous women, and will include trail running, mountain biking, standup paddleboarding, movies, talks and more.
